Egg-cellent ideas for Easter!

Easter is on its way this month and we can’t wait! We’ve put together all our favourite things about Easter!

Easter eggs – the tradition of giving chocolate eggs to loved ones on Easter is a symbol of a celebration of new life. There are plenty of recipes to choose from to create your own chocolate eggs this year, this recipe is great for an eggs-tra special surprise for the whole family! If a small Easter egg just isn’t your thing any more then for £25,000 you can get yourself a 100kg chocolate egg – we’ll have two!

A
Activities – Two weeks off for children around the U.K can be tricky to find egg-citing things to do! We’ve found some Easter themed activities that children of all ages can get involved in; creating the perfect Easter bonnet, finger painting ducks and homemade Easter baskets! It’s really easy to create an Easter themed quiz too for a fun afternoon using Easter eggs as prizes!

S
Simnel Cake – The symbolic cake has been baked and eaten since medieval times, it’s a rich and sweet Easter treat. Simnel cake is fruit cake with two layers of either almond paste or marzipan, with one layer in the middle and one on the top that’s toasted. Here’s a Mary Berry recipe perfect for an Easter-meal centrepiece for all the family. Here are two recipes that bring tradition with a twist, a ginger simnel cake recipe which follows the basics of the recipe with a ginger and spring flower twist or create mini simnel cakes with this recipe which are so easy to decorate with little eggs!

T
Treats – It’s essential at Easter to have some fantastic frozen treats in your freezer for those surprise guests. Auntie Bessie’s have a delicious range of cakes that are ideal to have when guest’s pop round – the range features mouth-watering individual cakes and large cakes that can be cut up from almond bakewell tarts to chocolate cake! We also love to have lamb at Easter and at Fresh from the Freezer we have a heavenly lamb shanks recipe which would be perfect for an Easter Sunday meal.

E
Eggs – It’s Easter, of course eggs deserve two mentions! Whether its breakfast eggs at brunch or chocolate Easter eggs all day, Easter is all about eggs! There are hundreds of recipes that feature eggs and frozen ingredients, here are a few of our favourites white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, pain au chocolat brandy pudding and smoked haddock chowder. Egg-cellent!
R
Rabbits – and when we say rabbits, we mean bunnies. And not just any bunny but the Easter Bunny!! The Easter bunny is on his way and children across the country are getting excited for all the Easter treats he’s going to bring. You can now track the Easter bunny as he hops around the world using this website. The Easter bunny could always leave an Easter egg hunt as he passes through the UK for your children (which will keep them busy for an hour or two).
