Tips for a haunted Halloween

October is here, which means Halloween is fast approaching. The American tradition has hopped across the pond and is now a staple in the events calendar.

Whether it’s dressing up in a creepy costumes and trick or treating or getting a face-full of water while bobbing for apples, there’s an activity to suit all spooky needs.

Dressing up in costumes such as blood-sucking vampires or grizzly werewolf is a must-do! Trick or treating with the kids is the ideal time to dust off your cape and become Dracula-dad or pull out some old make-up and become mummified-mum. Need some inspiration? Pumpkin carving is a super-spooky activity that the whole (Addams) family can join in with! Place the creepy creations in the windows and at the front of your house to create spook-tacular effect to frighten the whole neighbourhood.  Scary faces, witches flying on broomsticks, zombies rising from their graves – the petrifying possibilities are endless. Take a look at these mind-blowing efforts. Be careful when carving as you’ll need a sharp knife to help you get the design you desire.

Keeping the tiny terrors entertained can be hard. If you’re hosting your own ghosts and ghouls party, there’s loads of frighteningly fun ways to keep them memorised. Why not try a selection of Halloween-themed games like ‘What’s the time, Mrs Witch?’ – a simple twist on the classic ‘What’s the time, Mr Wolf?’

For our top tip to add a sprinkling of terror to apple bobbing, add red food dye to the water to make it extra gory.

There are so many more activities that can be Halloween themed and will keep your guests occupied for hours.
